Now bear with me because i haven't even free dived yet!! I've been lucky to find this site as its pointed me in the right direction and given me some enthusiasm to follow...... so where do i go from here? I would like some advice on strengthening exercises in and out of the water. How do i improve my breath holding? I did an exercise last night and managed to hold my breath for 2mins 22secs. (lying on the bed!!)Is that okay or awful? I was amazed personally but some of you guys discuss times and depths which make me think you are part fish.....

not so deep jonathan
p.s my wife thinks i've lost my marbles...any advice on how to persuade her otherwize would be appreciated.

We should probably take this discussion to the "Training" forum. There you will find a number of posts that may answer many of your questions. You could also check out a website on freedive training:

I'm not sure what others think of these techniques, but it would be interesting to hear opinions.

With respect to your wife, take her snorkeling to the most scenic spot you can get to (Bahamas?). If she doesn't understand after that, you're probably on your own.

I just received my course materials for Kirk Krack's Long Beach Clinic on the 19th - After having perused the information, I can say that this will be a definite step up for me in my skill set. The added information on training is key, in my opinion.

I will be posting a complete first person account of my experiences while attending after I get back...
