Okay, I finally have seen water for the first time this year. Given some things that have come up, ideas, I kinda figured I wouldn't end up seeing much diving action this year, but instead would be doing other things around lake shore instead. Maybe I was wrong jumping, all puns intended, to conclusions.

With the high price of gas a crazy idea has come to me in the past couple of days as well. I have gotten to the point where I have almost parked the car and started using the bicycle for getting around when the distance isn't very far. For most stuff I do other than one day every couple of weeks I only travel 5-7 miles each way. Most public accessible water is only 5-7 miles each way from my house, one local state park beach is 1.75 miles from my house to the water.

I have been thinking of the idea of riding the bike to the lake to go freediving. I do see one potential benefit to riding the bike to the lake, especially this time of the year and the again come fall time as the water starts to cool down. The body warmth I generate from biking to the lake will help to keep me warmer longer.

The real question is what would the biking right before the diving do to breathhold times? I figure I would have a natural delay in more ways than one from the time I got to water and the time I was actually diving of around 15-20 minutes, figuring suiting up, and then getting out into the water. I would think this would allow the body/heart to calm down enough so it wouldn't effect breathhold very much. Granted since I live in a hilly part of the country I would more than likely have some lactic acid development on the way to the lake, other than the state park beach that is pretty flat/downhill most of the way there.

Just kinda curious what I should expect to see. I don't ever press my luck when diving anyways but I'm curious of what should be expected before I ever give the idea a try.
