Ok, so I just got my first spear gun a week ago. I've been Free-dive Pole Spearing for almost 7 years now, but not as often as i'd like due to the lack of water clarity where i live. Anyways though, I just got an AB Biller 42 from a friend of the family. He had bought it a few years ago and never used it, so i bought new power bands for it today, and a stringer or leash ( ? ) for the spear. I noticed though that it was missing the little spring like piece that it ties to. I got one, but am finding it nearly impossible to get the spear tip off to put it on. Any tips?
 
I take it the screw on tip is stuck and you can't get the slide ring on.Try using some pb blaster or wd40 and let it soak for awhile,find a vise and use a pair of vise grips to get it off.You may have to use heat on the tip to get it loose try not to ruin the shaft if possible.Hope this helps.
 
Yeah forget it drill a hole through the shaft like is found on euro guns and rig a mono or dyneema line through this -ensure edges are rounded and smotth to get good life out of your line.
another option is to get a Riffe style shaft to suit your mech and rig similar to the riffe set up. either of these will be more accurate than using the slide ring attached to shaft and if you go to a 7mm or 9/32 shaft it will be faster also and tougher if its a spring steel or 17/4 PH stainless.

Heat is the #1 way to remove stuck stuff. 2 vise grips pliers and a butane torch is all that is needed. I use same glue they use on tips of fishing poles. If you need to get it off, a cigarette lighter would be enough heat to remove the tip. They never unscrew when you use that glue.

Ya, i ended up just taking it up to a dive shop near me. They heated it with a torch and two of them pried it off. They said it was lock-tited on, so that was the problem. I couldnt even get it the tip to go back on it right, they had to heat it up and scrape all the glue off with a wire brush. Thanks for all the help though guys. Im leaving for the keys in 9 hours, so hopefully i'll have plenty of good pictures to show you all. Thanks again.
