I know that this has been discussed endlessly, but number of threads is overwhelming.

My beloved Suunto D3 lasted 10 years. It might have lasted another 10, but when I unloaded the boat today, I dropped it on the concrete and now the face is blank. I doubt that is covered by the warranty.

It seems a lot of people are using the Aeris watches, but there is the F.10 and the newer F.11. I've tried to wade through reviews , but they seem to be dominated by pure freedivers who need features that don't mean a thing to me.. They talk about alarms, features useful for swimming laps in a pool, etc. I want to turn off alarms. I'm just a humble spear fisherman. All I want is depth and time of last dive, temperature, and surface interval with numbers at least as large as those in my D3.

I'm open to suggestions, but I think I want an Aeris watch. Mako sells the F.10 for $400 and the F.11 for $600. Which one do I need? I can't imagine that the F.11 is 50% better than the F.10. Am I wrong?

Is there a cheaper place to buy?

This guy does a nice little comparison of the two watches in this video:

He has a few points that I think are relevant to your post.

Thanks. That review makes it sound as if the F.10 is the best choice for me. In particular, having to press a button after each dive to see the depth and time of last dive would be a PIA. Perhaps it wouldn't bother a competition diver who doesn't make all that many dives, but as a spear fisherman I'm making a lot of dives and have a speargun in my hand.

I feel naked in the water without a watch and didn't want to go too long without one, so I just ordered the F.10 from Mako. Their web site lists it as 400 US dollars, but I called and got a price of 275.
