Has anyone seen this ? It is a very small torch that attaches to the mask - or wrsit I guess... anyway I couldn't find out how bright it was and was wondering if anyone had seen or tried it...

Looks quite good but I guess that depends on brightness and burn time.

I was wondering how it would compare to a Ikelite PCa Lite (4W I think).

Anyway, the other FA & Mi LED torches look good - I was wondering if the smaller 40W one would be physically the same size as the PCa Lite ??

I was thinking about buying a new torch but don't like the big bulky trigger style ones - ideally something the same size (or smaller) as the Ikelite PCa Lite.

Normally go for night dives for about an hour and a half - we get out when the PCa is starting to dim - so I guess any torch the same size which is brighter and burns longer.... just don't need anything that is rated to 400m nor burns for 50 hours :)...

Any ideas ?

Cheers
Ed

Just found that they make an 18W torch too for about £125 (or £100 ex-VAT I guess).

Not sure about the physical size but it 'looks small' (he said while just looking at a pic with no scale :) ... here's hoping).

Power - 18W
Light - 5000° - 6000°K
Reflector - 10 deg
Autonomy - 18 hours (6 hours at 100%)
Batteries - 4 x 'AA'
Weight - 0.45Kg
Buoyancy - 0.2Kg Negative

I would prefer this than a UKD4 trigger torch type thing...

But can anyone comment on them ????

Cheers
Ed

Someone told me on another forum that they use the 40W one and it is very good - they have handled the 18W one and they dont think it is bright enough ... anyone else seen / tried / have one ?

Any thoughts at all on LED as a technology ?

Thanks for any input.

I bought a 'Power 40W' one and like it alot - good for night dives and so on....

Can switch on and off without the risk of blowing a bulb (ie I turn it off on the return back to the surface).

Nice bright white light and uses 4 AA batteries (I use 2300 rechargeables) - light drops off noticeably after and hour and a half but keeps going for longer than a normal torch.

Light is comparable to a 20W halogen and I think rating it at 40W is a bit high. But perhaps with fresh AA duracell it would be brighter.

Perhaps I might look into modding it with a Li-Ion battery if I can work out what type/power it should match with.

Altogether a great small torch with a nice bright white light that is easy to use and maintain and it constructed very well.

Any bad points ? It is a little pricey... £140 ... but apart from that not much :)
