We are a family of 3, myself 48, my wife 49 and our son 11. We live in the Pacific North West, Puget Sound area.
In the next couple of days, our wet suits will arrive followed by the rest of our gear in the days that follow.
None of us have ever dived before. We'll be donning our 2 piece free dive suits for the first time.
In March we'll be taking our first classes at Pacific Coast Freediving. In the mean time we plan on taking some baby steps into the water applying everything we've learned so far.
We live about 1hour east of Everett. Spear fishers and free divers seem few and far between in these parts.
I'm hoping that joining this forum will help us to get to know the community here. Hello everybody :droid:

Sounds like you guys are on the right track. We have a USA/Canada regional subforum, so you may want to have a look around and maybe post a quick thread if you're looking for other divers. Otherwise, you may find some in your freediving classes.

Welcome to the forums :)

Welcome to DB!

Great to hear you and the whole family go into freediving :) let us know how it goes!

Some advice: seek comfort on all fronts, and have the hot chocolate ready for after the dive.

Also test your suits at home, great fun, and much warmer and secure then the seaside.
If it's a smooth inside, use plenty of soap so everything slips on easy. Clip the nails and do not use them to put the suit on.
Going to the pool first is the best way to get used to freediving, snorkelling, duck-diving, relaxing etc.

let us know how it goes!

Maybe write a DB article about diving with your family into freediving?
