Hey guys i have a question regarding new fins that i have brought.
I have recently purchased a pair of Beachat Competition Firmblade fins and after 5 mins of using them i start to get pain in my feet it feels like its stopping blood circulation sort of. I had the same problems before when i had a pair of fins that was open healed which i used booties for but the pain went away after a few dives. My question is that if this is normal with getting use to new fins or should i sell this pair and get a pair thats 1 size up? My foot size is 10 and im using a size 10 fin with 1mm neoprene socks it felt fine when i tried them on in the shop so i dont know lol any help would be appreciated....Thank you

Well when you're kicking, obviously your feet will swell slightly from increased circulation. I've struggled with this issue in the past myself quite a bit, since I have odd-shaped feet. The solution was a lot of experimentation with different foot pocket and booty combinations. Off the bat, I would say that I've always gotten footpockets at least one size larger, but then again I dive in cold water and wear thick socks. The manufacturers also vary GREATLY in the accuracy of their "shoe" sizes, in my experience. I'm a 42-44 in Escalpez, and a 46-48 in Spetton. That's with the exact same socks.

As far as pain going away after a few dives, I'm not sure that foot pocket rubber or neoprene socks would stretch that significantly after a few dives. Perhaps it was just getting used to the sensation? I have sometimes felt that things (equipment, etc) were only uncomfortable when the idea that they were was put into my head.

Go for a few more dives with your new fins, keep good care of them, and if they are still just unbearable, trade them in.
