After almost a year I've decided to replace my trusty Beuchat Mundial Competition fins. Main reason is that they are straight, but I have sort of inflexible ankles, just can't bend them far enough to the back, so when I relax while I'm freefalling, the blades still point to the front and I start turning and falling back first. When I focus on flexing my calves, so I drag the blades behind me, I fall really nicely.
Besides working on my flexibility I'd like to replace the fins and get something with an angle (and in fiberglass/carbon). And I decided I'd probably go for the premium stuff - the C4's.
My question is which model to choose? Almost all of them should have 29° angle, so after a quick look on their page it comes to the foot pocket and the "flap" on the blade.
I'm no spearfisher, I'd use them primarily for pool training/DYN and CWT, and a bit of "snorkeling". So my understanding is that the "flapped" Mustang, Competition and Blue Flap would be better.
As for the stiffness, onetime, I borrowed Scorpio Flame in medium stiffness from a friend and I had a feeling they were quite soft, I was just flapping my legs and my plastic fins gave me better propulsion. I'm not a small guy, 185cm/97kg, I lift and squat. So should I go for hard stiffness?
And added bonus would be possibility to disassemble them for transport.
Or would you recommend something else?
Thanks.
