filming static competitions- question

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

How come in all the videos of static records they only film from above the water? An underwater camera would make for a cooler video.

When I watched the olympics on tv they filmed the swimmers from below them. So I don't understand why freediving competitions don't do this too.
 
For the judges, the surface video is what counts.

The organizers are free to put other cameras, and I have been at competitions in which there was underwater video being recorded and sometimes being shown live on a big screen. Frankly as a competitor I found it annoying, especially since in one case they were using a flash :naughty
