My friends are looking to upgrade from their Cressi 2000HFs. They dive in depths from 10-100ft in harsh current around jetties and rocks. They also climb in grouper holes. Then they pile their fins on the deck under all the gear. I was going to recommend a fiberglass blade instead of carbon...Would DiveR and EDGE blades be good suggestions? I need great performing blades that are durable.Oh and say a fin was lost do those companies sell single blades?
thanks!

Well, piling things on top of your fins narrows things down....

Would have to say I am not a fan of the Dive R despite their durability.

I do like the Capt. Nemo with Waterway foot pockets, for a super durable fin that also feels good in the water. You can get them put together or blades and pockets alone.

They have good feel and are durable.

Nothing compares to carbon when its done well, but they would need some TLC.

DiveR is very good fins and durable and if you buy from Ray directly, he will fit any footpockets you wish as along as it is available. I can go head to head with strong currents like a torpedo hehehehe...you know what i mean. You can choose stiffness and lots of varieties of colors too. And considering the size of the fins, it is very light in my opinion. I even had the topless mermaid taken out due UAE laws. You can send him an e-mail thru rayrachel@hotmail.com

for surability i'd probably stick with a plastic blade even fibreglass has its weaknesses and it sounds like your friends treat their gear pretty baddly, maybe Cressi Gara professionals would be good for the strong currents, something with a bit of grunt will work and if they have been kicking 2000HF's they have the strength already. in glass there are alot of options, Edge has a good rep, i own DiveR amongst alot of other blades both plastic, Fibreglass and Carbon and think there are alot better blades on the market, Omer Pegaso is much nicer and easier to use in the water, Mat Mas blades are also briliant. both of the above can be purchased as individual blades and i think edge (more local to you) would be my choice

Agree with DD. If you beat your gear to death, stick with Cressi's.

I've owned Specialfins and Waterways, fiberglass and Kevlar/carbons and think any of them are more effective than my 2000hfs, but none are anywhere near as durable under abuse. The difference in performance is relatively small if major abuse is a factor.

Are you saying that you like your Omer Pegaso's better than your DiveR's? I have owned both and now only own the DiveR's. What footpocket do you have your DiveR's in? In my experience with DiveR's I have mediums in Imersion footpockets and they are much easier on the surface and below the surface than the Pegaso's were.
