Unexpected but nice to see. Always feels there is an edge of 'look at the freak show' when people are reporting anything to do with a monofin. :) They do look wierd but being able to swim that fast never ceases to put a grin on the face!

Hi Yeti,
Yes i saw that report on tv.
great publicity! for the sport thoe.
i will give it a go when i find something local to sidcup, kent.
I have onlt just joined Deeperblue so havent looked at many profiles yet , which leads to my next question,
have you tryed monofin ???

Just watched it, very interesting even if he could not use the fin!

Tried minofin a few times but I have really bad technique. If you want to learn to monofin don't start with a monofin, get some rubber training fins and practice. Just make sure that the power is coming from the core muscles and not from the knees (should be almost straight). If you start kicking with the knees it's really hard to correct this later..

Do you reckon they'll repeat it on BBC sports?

Apparently something on Freediving is coming up shortly on channel 4 in the Paralympic show which is currently on in case you guys wanted to watch it

Oh the association... :crutch:crutch

Well we got our 1 min on TV twice today so great day for freediving in the UK! :) compared to say football and horse racing who get 10 hours each!

What can I say? We're few but special lol

thanks for the advice, its a shame the local pool wont let me train unless im a member of a club who hire the pool, but i guess they cant have some crazy novice ,fin slapping everybody, including myself, ouch !!

That's civilisation, everyone the same blockhead haircut, everyone moving in perfect school, everyone predictable = safe.

You're just a dangerous individual, to be whacked until you know your place, until you love your master, just like the others.

i didnt think i am so dangerous, hmm!
i thought i was loveable and hopeless.
maybe i will be happy to be my own master , but dont tell my future wife:t
when the weather warms i may try monofining on my own ,but i will post a message before i do
it may be the last one ,,

.........me thinks after looking at all this monofin malarky I might fix mine and take it down to the local club and wash the dust off it. hmmmm this might hurt a little! rofl

I look like a very drunk seal in a monofin lol
