Fin too big, what to do?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

Me & my gf do a lot of dymanic at the pool,
I own the Cressi Gara 2000 size is 7-8, which is the smallest size available,

My gf used mine with a 3mm sock and it fit just fine.
Seeing the same size chart we bought another set of fins
the Cressi Professional LD with size smallest 7-8 too.

But when the fins arrived, it felt like half a size larger than mine Gara 2000,
Cressi obviously change the size chart.

Now the fins is bit loose for her even with a 3mm sock.
So we did bit of experiment, put on both the 3mm sock on one side and the fit good.

Do you think getting a 5mm sock or a 7mm sock is better?
there's no retail in my country here to try out.

Or any other suggestion?

Using thicker sox can cause trouble with the fin loosening at depth. A 5mm lift in the bottom of the foot pocket may work better. If you can't find hard rubber or it's too expensive, try indoor/outdoor carpet.
Another hint; old worn out sox can be trimmed into fine fin keepers.
 
You can also have her wear low cut athletic socks over her 3mm socks. I used to do that with large footpockets and works just as well as thicker neoprene socks.

That´s subjective. They did not cause cramps for me.

I would recommend trying a few different athletic socks of different thickness to see which one would fit most comfortably. They don´t need to be too thick. Since they don´t slip as much inside the footpocket, all you need is one that fills in the void inside nicely without being to constrictive.

thank you for the info Claudio,
I just got the 5mm for my gf and it fit just nice
won't be needing a athletic socks then.

but there's another problem, the socks we got size fit fine but above the ankle is bit loose, it's not like we've got skinny legs
it's more like the socks meant for big one.

I wonder can I sew some velcro strap to tighter it, anyone try that before?
 
Do they have an open-cell seal on the inside? If yes they are designed to have the top of the socks folded outwards, exposing the seal so that the wetsuit can go above the sock and seal... If that doesn't make sense send me a link to the socks you got and I'll have a look..
