I had today my 3rd monofin work out ever.
So I'm an absolutely beginner in apnoea and finswimming.
It's really my new love!!
Although I still using my black, soft finis plastic fin. I learnt from that forum that it is more or less just a toy :) [Leaderfins Hyper is ordered and I hope I will get it in 2-3 weeks :)) ]
I know with more practice hours and hours in water I should become better.
I further know my question is a question of a little boy, but I'm one! :)

  • I get 30m in dynamic with the Finis Rapid - what can I expect with the Leaderfins Hyper? :)
  • 200m surface swimming with the mono takes me exactly 3Minutes that's slower than my usual time in crawl :-( What can I expect with the Hyper? :))
Regards

I bought a Hyper (freediving model) from Leaderfins a few months back - gained about 15m before contractions started, mostly because it allows me to glide (the waterway didn't because of its flat blade).

You might be a bit disappointed with your distances the first time you hop in the pool with it - I've found that equipment changes like that tend to give you a more gradual improvement because they often demand slightly different (or better) technique.

It is an awesome fin though - another freediver at our club bought the 'pro' version and it's very well made.

Today my new mono arrived! :D
Will let you know my experience with it on Monday.

Hi, there are a lot of differences !!!

plastic blade vs FG Blade
no stratification vs complex stratification
size of the blade
Scuba diving footpockets vs competition footpockets
and now tou have angle and wing type design monofin

Which stiffnes are???

waiting for your feelings !!!! bye!!!

I recently received a leaderfins (Freediver). I cannot guess what I gain in depth or distance, but I got a lot of fun...(I've been using it only in the see so far).

My first impression with the Leaderfin Hyper (medium blade)
In my opinion the fin is distressing heavy-weighted somewhere around 3.5kg and the optical finish is, lets say not far away from sloppy.
The footpockets are tight and I wasn't able to wear the fin longer than 20 Minutes. But I think I will be able to assimilate on it.
Unfortunately the where a lot of swimmer in the pool today so I had to be carefully that I didn't slash someone.
The feeling under water was excellent. The fin allowed a fantastic speed as well as slow kicks with long glide times between the kicks. I hadn't the feeling to wear a heavy fin it was relaxed and natural movement.
Tried do do some surface finswimming. There I get some problems. My impression was the blade is to stiff for my abilities right now [should be better with more practice ;-) ], but I had also the feel to wear a quite heavy thing on my feet.
In general I think it is a fantastic fin. But I have a lot of work in front of me, in order to make proper use of that fin. :)

[SIZE=+0]And yes, I need some Neoprene footbooties! [/SIZE]
My feet looks a bit like that ;-) [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=68162"]http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=68162[/ame]

I picked up a rapid to try out a monofin without costing me much. It is a lot of fun with scuba as it gives a lot more power than jet fins with a lot less effort. The downsides are loss of turning ability, and it barely fits my 9 1/2 4E feet wearing 2mm booties. It's not bad for cruising around on scuba, but I would stick to the jet fins for wreck diving. The quick release hook is also nice for getting out of it while wearing all your gear.
