Hi,
My girlfriend is keen to get some freediving fins - mostly for surface swimming but also for shallow dives to 5m/8m.

Her feet are size 37 and I was looking around for fins for her.

I started looking at the Cressi Gara 3000 LD's but found the smallest size is 40-41
I'm guessing that even with 3mm socks that these would be too big?

Then I noticed the Cressi Gara Modular fins for the same price - Cressi Fins - Gara Modular - Apnea

These come in 38-39 which I'm guessing would fit well with 3mm socks?

What I was wondering was are these good for surface swimming like the 3000 LD's? ie is the foot/fin angle the same and also is the blade stiffness the same?
How do the 3000 LD's compare to the Gara Modular?
Any advice?
Many thanks,
Ed

Gara Modular have much bigger foot-pockets than standard Cressi fins.
The 38-39 Modular foot-pockets are probably the same size as the 40-41, maybe even bigger.

I have the Gara 2000HF 42-43 which fit my feet perfectly without socks
But it's the Gara Modular's 40-41 that fit my feet with 3mm or 5mm socks.

The Gara Modular are really nice, I prefer them over all other Gara fins... if only for that one stupid detail.

Thanks Immersed - I've emailed the shop to see if they have any advice but interesting to see that that the modular are bigger - yes, thanks Mart I read a bunch of threads but nothing concrete.
Anyone else got size 37 EU shoes? What are you using?
Thanks, Ed

I wear size 37 and am currently using these Mako fins MAKO Competition Freediver Fins for Women in the smallest size (Women's 6/7-Men's 4-5). With a neoprene sock they fit great.

They are not so stiff that surface swimming is a problem but if I was just going out to snorkel or planned on a really long surface swim I'd wear something else.

Fin keepers are also helpful for fins that are a size too large.

Thanks Christine - helpful points! Borrowed some Immersion fins from a friend and they fit quite well - they are 38-40 size footpockets and are ok with 3mm socks - might be better with 5mm ones. Still looking to buy some...

Please tell me if you get any.
The cressis I have tried on recently in a size 35-36 have been as big as a size 5/6+ (uk size. I have a post on the want to buy category but just can't find the small sizes , 90 long fins. I take a 37 (uk size) and recently ordered from the US but had to send them back so PLEASE POST IF YOU FIND THEM:girlie

Sporasub makes small footpokets if am not wrong should be 36/37

Salvimar's DeltaOne footpockets runs in small so DeltaOne in 38/40 size would be a good candidate.
From my experience, Mares's Razor F/P in 39/40 size is very similar in fit to DeltaOne in 41/42. My foot size is EU 41 and can comfortably wear the both with bare feet or thin cotton socks.

The sizing of Gara Modular footpockets is similar to Mares Razor's, which means they are about one size larger than specified. I purchased Gara Modular fins in 42/43 size but I had to wear at least 5mm socks to obtain a decent fit.
Another problem of Gara Modular footpockets is their stiffness of tendons. I don't think you'll get proper flex pattern if combined with normal 'tapered' carbon blades.
