Hey, I just read about static apnea yesterday afternoon and decided to give it a shot last evening before dinner. I held my breathe without doing any excercise and made 1:16. Then I did apnea tables in 3 phases, phase one target breath 1:30, phase 2, 2:30 and phase 3 target was as long as possible and I made 4 minutes 26 seconds on my third phase. This was my first attempt ever. I was showing y fiancé how it was done a few hours later so I redid phase one but decided to just hold as long as possible instead of the target of 1:30 and I did 3:20. I was just wondering what a reasonable goal at this rate might be in a few months. I really want to make 7 minutes by summer.

Also, I smoke a pack of cigars a day.. I'm quitting this weekend so my lungs will be in better shape. I eat alright but should so better, but also have very little body fat.. I'm 26 years old, 5' 10" and weigh 150. I do very little physical activity but plan on biking and running come warmer months. I know how to relax after purging to lower my heart rate but if anyone has any other tips or lifestyle changes they could suggest that would be great! I plan on doing some free diving this summer, and in December I has a trip planned to Maui. So i would really like a good breath hold for that. Thanks:)
