Hey guys, we got in the water yesterday at two different places. Bear lake, and Sunset lake. Bear lake had terrible visibility, and Sunset was still at least 80% ice. Fortunately I think that the slow thaw of sunset has kept visibility at winter like levels. Other than losing light from the ice on the surface, visibility is still around 10-15 feet...which will go up to about 30ft after turnover. We broke some holes in the ice, (which was thick, but so honey combed it could only sometimes support our weight, and could be punched through) and did a fair share of diving. We also got to test out "Winks" FlipVideo camera. It seems to have worked well, but we think that the cold possibly sometimes makes it turn off. "Winks" is gone for the day at a baseball tournament, but possibly tomorrow we will have pictures and videos up on here and on facebook for those of you who are fortunate enough to be our friends. - Flesh :D

Diving Sunset last weekend was the most fun i've ever had diving, and I can't wait to get in the water again!Just in case if any of you were wondering, there are videos of the 2 lakes up on facebook!FYI we are not the best camera men, so just bear with us as we get better.

Well we (myself, "Winks", and Banda) got out today for technically the 3rd and 4th dives of the year, both lakeside Lake Michigan. One in Baileys Harbor, and one off of Jacksonport. Baileys Harbor resulted in Winks spearing a carp right out of the gates, and losing it because of me (story for a different time) after that Winks and I headed out to the "Greenwater" where there was easily 40FOW of vis...probably more. It was awesome, but cold because I didnt have any gloves. Banda, who was with us...stayed in shallower and actually respeared the Winks carp Via a home-made, freeshafting, hawaiian sling...talk about going primitive? :martial I got looks at a couple carp, probably saw 7 in total, took a shot at one, but found my 80cm RA to be sadly lacking in the necesary range with vis like that, especially with only one band. After that we went to Jacksonport where we dove the awsome structure that was once the biggest docks on lakeside door county, found lots of cool stuff, and explored two pretty laid out shipwrecks. In addition to that we saw one carp there, some nice trout, and a decent northern. All in all it was a good day. Tired now, hands are still a little tingly. :D

That's pretty cool! I'm still waiting for you guys to check out the powerplant.

The one in Sheboygan? Yea, we are wanting to get out there too. Its just a little hard because we dont know how we would do access or anything. I guess it seems a little impracticable. Things like where to change into wetsuits (no phonebooths will not do, we arent supermen)...but who knows. After the video you posted of the area Ive been interested in going, and so have some of the other guys. Im sure it will happen sooner or later, but with the kind of diving weve been having there isnt really much more you could ask for even though the spearing has not been top notch.

Right now i'm game for anything. I just want to be in the water as much as possible! Dissapointed I missed this past weekend :head , but $20,000 is more important! I would love to get out to the powerplant and do some diving with you guys, I know fleshy would come, and some others it's just so hard right now with everyone having jobs and all working different times. But i'm willing to get in the water at any time!

The more the merrier generally speaking. We could even provide you with some gear depending on how many people came along with. Just let us know, and stay in touch. Also adding us on facebook, and the "Central Wisconsin Spearfishers" wouldnt hurt either. :D

North of the powerplant is a PARK- there may be a bathroom to change in. Otherwise wrap a towel around you- I don't want to drive the 2 hours to be the 1st one to check it out. I think it should be awesome - but you have to be careful- undertow. You guys are all strong swimmers- should be ok.

and IF YOU GO, tell us because we would truley like to see that place. If you dont end up going Im sure we will have hit it up by early June. An address to the general area would be good though...but it cant be that hard to find...go to the lake, search for the plant, go north to the park. :D

The Park is called LAKE VIEW PARK - It's on LAKESHORE DR. - south of Sheboygan Harbour. If you go- you need to be careful- strong currents. I am actually taking a little Hiatus April 29th - May 3. I might stop by there on the 30th on my way up to Door county. If anyone is free on the 30th- let me know.

That would be sweet. I'm hoping to get over there in sheboygan sometime soon...i was pretty content with the plover and its 14 pound carp but after diving in michigan i dont want to go anywhere else. And when you say undertow and strong current is that anything to be worried about? Ive never really experienced either of them and if we take Bano with us i know his parents wont let him go unless its "safe".:head

But if me flesh or waldo head over there we will for sure let you guys know when and where.

You have some entries in lads but keen to get some more.

The Hall of Fame has had its latest update. If you haven't looked lately there are some great new entries with pictures and stories aplenty. New featured catch is a Halibut, no less. http://forums.deeperblue.com/spearo-board/82043-deeper-blue-spearfishing-hall-fame.html

Some members, however, have been missing out by falling foul of the rules. Make sure you take pictures and most importantly weigh your catch then with a little luck and some skill you too could join the ranks of the famous Hall of Fame DB spearo's.

Dave

Next thursday that would be whopperhead? Sounds like an excuse to skip work/school...what do you say boys?

Went to the powerplant on Friday- vis was bad- 5' you can't dive right in front of the Power Plant (signs posted) Should be good in the future.
