Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my first gun on its second outing last week. She's a 90 made from 4 laminations of beach from an old table top with a center lam of mahogony from a window frame! Fitted with a single 16mm band and dyneema wishbone and a euro spec reef trigger mech from josh at neptonics. The handle frame and other hardware was made by myself from stainless.

Great material resource, nice trigger, the gun should last for a long time.
How did you finish & protect the wood.
How about an 18mm band, how does it balance under water?

The gun is finished with about 7 coats of marine varnish applied with a foam brush with light sanding between coats. I didn't want to overpower the gun because of the slim profile. It was supposed to be about 6mm deeper, however, after a bit of a wander cutting the shaft groove on the router table, rather than scrap the stock another pass through the table saw brought me back to square one,but with a smaller blank. The balance is ok sinks with spear in floats (muzzle up) with spear out. In all honesty it could probably do with a bit of fine tuning but as this gun was always just a "sighter"and I'm happy to leave it as it is. Next project will be an 83cm mahogony/carbon strongback style gun with provision for two 16/18mm bands. First job is to knock up a vacuum pump for bagging the carbon.

Very nice mate, love the lines in the muzzle area .

Cheers, Don Paul
