First manta ray born in captivity

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
It died today as I read in a German newspaper. :-(

You shouldn't have manta rays (or whale sharks) in an aquarium.:rcard

What a shame. :(
Apparently the mother was taken to the aquarium after being caught in a fishing net, I don't know if she was injured and could not be released.
That is a problem with displays containing several species of fish. They look impressive, but if any of the fish decide to breed, or become territorial, there is usually big trouble. I have often seen a fish trying to raise young in a mixed collection, only to have its eggs or young eaten or bullied by another species.

OH ?
and you SHOULD have all other creatures other then these two in an aquarium ?
Come on...

Not sure :). But I'm sure with these big animals. From my point of view they don't belong in a zoo or aquarium. Basins can never be big enough and replace nature.

You're absolutely right, im just saying that no kind of contatinment can replace nature, and no animal should be kept in captivity for that matter, big OR small.
