Hi all. I'm looking at building my first speargun. I'm looking at using jbl shafts, as thats all my local shop carries. I hunt saskatchewan fresh water, and I'm thinking around 70cm is a good length. I want two bands. I was thinking euro style, but a really open track style looks appealing too. Most of this will be done with power tools, but I dont have access to a router. What do you think for handle and trigger? Was thinking of making my own handle, and using neptonics jbl trigger. Whatcha think? Been reading tons here!

Okay, so I think i'm on to something here. I found an old trigger from a paintball gun, i'm thinking I can use it as a speargun trigger. The only problem I can forsee, is that there isnt much space between the top of the handle, and the sear. That would mean the stock would need to be extremely thin. Like 7/8" thick. Well this be too thin?

Hi, two bands on a 70cm will not be a very good match, a single 16-18mm will give a better performance in terms of recoil power but you can always try out what suits you best once the gun is built.
Please don't try converting unsuitable trigger units, buy of find a proper speargun unit or even a euro handle handle with built in trigger.

One band is the recommended standard format for about 99% of all Euro bands guns sold because the single band gives the best overall performance offering long range without spear distortion & hence increased accuracy.
Multi band guns are more popular in the States but they tend to be fitted on guns longer than 100cm.
Multi band guns are normally fitted with thin stretchy bands like 14-16mm because trying to load a single high power 16-20mm band on a long gun is very difficult!
