Hi all,
I'm off up to my parents again next week and for the first time will be taking all of my freediving equipment. Usually I just swim but this time I want to go in the water to hopefully get some food to put on the plate and just get to know the waters around my parents.
I'll be entering the water at the highlands of Scotland just south of Ullapool but north of the Isle of Skye, so I'll be in the Minch part of the Atlantic ocean. They live on the very centre, tip point of a big peninsula so would I be better going out to the end of that or going to a place where the sea meets inland lochs and is quieter?
What am I to expect? Depth of the water off of the coast? I see lobster boats alot when swimming/walking the coastline so will I be able to catch them?
I'll be taking a float with a line and some weights at the bottom so that I can use that for safety if it isn't too deep.
Just to let you know, I don't have a speargun, my friend in Swansea has it at the moment so i'll be collecting things with my hands. I have two pairs of thick gloves, the proper wetsuits and quite a lot of experience being in the sea so hopefully it goes well and I even see Seals/Basking Sharks etc
