I've been wanting to try a roller gun for a while, but I thought it would be interesting to adapt some of the Mako parts I had on hand, instead of building a gun from scratch. So I made up a Delrin and stainless muzzle, and will try the two stainless buttons at the rear to secure the bands. The quick and dirty slide ring was just my simple way to use an existing shaft, because the shooting line couldn't run to the shark tab without likely fouling on the wishbone arrestor pegs.

I chose the peg arrangement because I wanted the bands to stop before they got pulled part way around the roller and affected the spear trajectory. I used 416 SS dowel pins for a bit of extra strength, and so far they are holding up well.

I thought overall that the design made for an interesting approach, because it could be a "bolt on" mod for anyone who had a Mako barrel and a shark fin shaft.

The gun is 32" from the muzzle to the rear shaft tab, and the single 5/8" band at 275% elongation will put the shaft point all the way through a 12" thick foam archery target from 10' away.

Interesting - I have found that the compromise of a roller system on a small gun v balance, to avoid a very muzzle heavy gun, is very difficult to achieve.
How does the gun feel under water?

You are spot on. It's a little muzzle heavy, so I want to replace the stainless steel side plates with aluminum ones and see what effect that has.

When I built the carbon strong back gun, it came to me at the time that, that shape would make a good roller gun design.
