fish camp

We (me, my wife and 2 girls) leave for 'fish camp' on Thursday... for a long weekend of camping at an undecided lake in forest county. Hope to eat fish everynight and am looking forward to having my oldest girl (5yrs) watch from above as I spearfish below! Maybe I can put her on some nice fish with hook and line too. I'll try to get a few pictures to share.

Hey bglaeser, does she have snorkeling gear? That was about the age I started spearfishing with my brother. Never too soon. I only had a snorkel, so I would hang onto his back to get down to the bottom.

I was teaching my 5yr old how to dive. She's doing pretty good. She uses one of my SPHERA Masks- cause it fits better than her cheap 'kids snorkle' set.

well, we did practice in a pool a few months ago. I need to teach her how to equalize her ear pressure though. I doubt she can hold her breath for very long though. Hopefully the blue gills will be in the shallows on their beds and she can sneak up on them with me

Equalizing lessons are huge. Tell her about ole Forrest who blew out his ear drum. Ive got a picture on my camera phone of what they just pulled out of there, its about an inch long, but I have no way of getting it on the computer. I love to see that you guys are bringing your kids to the sport. Its one of the things I'm most thankful of my brother for doing for me. It was a window into another world that I might have missed. Just don't force anything. Let their curiosity take the sport as far as they will.
