Hi guys, I'm very new to spear fish. Currently only doing scuba. And you guys have a challenging sport here that I'd like to try.

Anyone can help me to ID the fish that is safe and nice to eat, and how is their behaviour while being stab by the spear? May be any website to educate me.

Many Thanks

Regards
Andy

Can you be more specific than SE Asia?

The best idea is to go to the local dive shop and grab a FISH ID book. These often have notes on wether or not a fish is good to eat.

If you are visiting areas with coral reef, then Coral Trout, Parrotfish and Cod are usually good to eat.

go to your local fish market and see what's on sale there. usually a good indication if what's edible :D
