The db staff are proud to present . . .
THE OMD FOM/FOY COMPETITION APRIL 2012

This year the OMD FOM trophy will be a beautifully shaped wooden ray [as shown below], with the name of the winner engraved. These are hand-made by our very own spearo MIRROR [send him some rep!], with the kind help of venturesports/spearfishingstore.co.uk.

This years Fish of the MONTH competitions are generously sponsored by Apnea Jersey Spearfishing shop [A £25 voucher is offered to the winner each month!!!].

And this years Fish of the YEAR competition is sponsored by venturesports/spearfishingstore.co.uk with a prize of a site voucher/credit for a fantastic £175.

Furthermore, for those who are really keen, we will run a fun speccie hunt competition [no prizes for this one]; just enter the fom as usual, and your fish will be entered into the speccie hunt comp at the end of the year, more details below...

In this thread, please only post your entries for the FOM competition.

Comments can be posted here -F.O.M./F.O.Y. discussion thread for 2012

I know this won't win but I think mullet is underrated. It makes the best Thai fishcakes and fish curries ever! The strongly "fishy" flavour is perfect in any spicy dish.

7lb mullet. Report in Dorset thread.

NB - I couldn't buy a newspaper at the time, so had to put in a past copy. I don't think my mullet stands any chance for F.O.M. anyway (particularly against Nobby's incredible record-breaking cuttlefish) but it's my PB so thought I'd post it up anyway.

Hi , did a night dive, first in a long time, fantastic clear water and bril vis. Saw loads of small flatties, only took a couple of small plaice and a sole (very tasty), as well as a surprise red mullet .....not huge but a smidgin under 1lb. Didnt expect to find the RM so early in the season. I know it wont compete with the other fish entered for this months FOM but am entering so can go toward the specimen comp. Really hope the specimen comp takes off.

Sorry...just notice how crap the pic of my squid is and you can hardly see the date on newspaper. So just in case of any discrepancies over the the pic I have taken another of the newspaper to prove the date. Thanks.
