Fish you can eat AND FISH YOU DONT EAT!!!?

Is acctualy is a Pipe fish suitable for eating???It has some meat on the sides....BUT as some of you know it changes color,what makes me a bit worried(can you acctualy eat this small acopus,it changes color too)!!!??

those are needlefish, in my English anyway

we used to eat them deep fried in Maldives, and they were delish!

Here in the Med we eat them as well! in arabic they are called Malita! one of my favourite fish!
But the best thing is to check with your local fishermen or fish stores as edibility of fish differs in different areas!

what I meant is that the fish could be poisonous (contain ciguatera for example)!

Once on mallorca, i saw a school of small "needle fish" BUT not pipe fish! I know, they look nearly the same, BUT acctualy the are totaly different:

The needle fish, has razor sharp Teeth, and they can hurt you!!!(what they did)


The pipe fish, has this long vacuum cleaner mougth. What it safer than a tooth pick. AND the most fabiolus thing is, as it changes color when it swimms under stone ground or so... first it was dark blue (i did not see it) then it becamme white with black dots (i saw it and fired), when i brought it on the boat, it was already dark-black....
and i forgot to say... the needle fish are related to baracuda(as Island's mensioned), if you look at their body structure and mouth they look alike,and the same by the pipe fish (if you look slosely they look totaly the same)!

So, dont mix up thoes 2 different kids of fish..... :naughty

i shot those two species last year in same day and eat them fried I am still living rofl

Needle fish tried to bite me and spear but it was before it tasted my blade Pipefish is harmless and stupid just make them scare and they will sit on the bottom with their "camo" patterns, dark brown stripes over light grey. Get them close and shoot.

needle fish are related to barracuda... the pipe fish to the sea horse family... love them they are so cute.

Ok so we have now established that we have 2 diferent Species of fish with similar characteristics, one bites you and the other sucks or plays music , whatever , but are they Both edible?, murat you ate both , Yes?, and still alive? so i guess, yes to that one, one question i always wanted to know, how trashed can one get by eating puffer fish?, someone told me that they make the mouth numb at the sushi place but if you eat lots you get a whacky high? true/false? oh and yes i know they are Deadly.

Do they taste good? I remember catching a cornetfish while line fishing, it looked like it might have meat on it but the captain said to throw it back. i always wondered though....

In the U.S. we eat jellyfish!

We put them between two pieces of bread with peanut butter. I especially like the strawberry and grape ones!

I actually ate jellyfish in a Japanese restaurant in Chinatown in Sydney! Quite good actually!

I heard that puffer fish is edible in JApan as they clean it in a certain way before they cook it. It is normally a very poisonous fish, I hear it's the most expensive fish dish in Japan, you would think it's supposed to be the cheapest, better yet they should pay you for eating it
