Five in first Cornwall shark swim

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Wouldn't it be much more fun to be in the open, not in a cage? That's if the sharks aren't the type to take a bite out of you. Perhaps if I was actually in the water next to one I might not feel so enthusiastic, here's hoping I find out!

Sounds good.....not sure how i feel about chumming, but if its for awareness and conservation, maybe its ok??

Would love to try it out of the cage, with the blues maybe.....but should any Mako's turn up is back to the cage for me!!!:crutch

So they left the cage to be with Basking sharks. I can't quite see the chumming leading to a South Africa situation but it does seem a little dubious. Yikes! Mako sharks. But we don't seem to have many attacks per century! But will global warming change things?

....with any luck global warming will cut down on my weekly travel time to the sea, by bringing the sea to me! rofl

Excellent point!rofl

I'd better look after myself over the next 50 years then when I will have to swim to work as I still won't have reached the ever disappearing retirement age!

Right now we seem to be suffering from the opposite problem - it just won't rain! rofl

I think that when it does start raining again, it just won't stop. Every cloud has a silver lining - more freediving opportunities all round.

We'll just have to wait and see if my prediction is correct. :hmm

About the shark diving, interesting.

Hi

Cage diving off Cornwall! To see Basking Sharks. Must be somethig to do with Health & safety!! rofl rofl

Having dived with white tip reef sharks in australia can say you do'nt need a cage! Cage diving in england well says it all really!:head

Have snorkelled & dived in cornwall since I was a kid never been attacked by a shark yet!

I hadn't thought of that! Cage diving with basking sharks has got to be Health & Safety. I don't know whether the other sharks are dangerous or not.

I,d say it has to H+S but anything for the public has to be over the top on safety. Always wanted to swim with baskers and only missed one last summer by an hour or so but also bearin mind they are big. I think a japanese guy may have been killed by one when he was trying to free it from nets and it panicked and hit him with the tail. Might be no harm to keep the general public in cages anyway might be safer from the sharks point of view.

That's true. If it is an organised tourist thing for the general public, it has to be as safe as possible.

Not that I ever do anything that's organised for the general public anyway. That's one of the reasons I like freediving. :D
