Eight months out of the water. Haven't gone that long in over 60 years, I bet. On the first dive I pulled to 15 meters and hung out 'til three minutes. It sure felt good to be back but the mask was leaking air. It turns out that some rodent in the garage was chewing on my $200+ mask. I'd wring his little neck but that was probably the same guy that broke his little neck trying to get bait out of the trap a few months ago.
Back to the topic. Lucky for me there was a new, identical Beuchat mask in the spare parts bin, complete with the mods needed for my face. All that was missing is the custom lenses that were glued in the rodent's mask. You would not believe how difficult it was to figure out the procedure for disassembly. After an hour or so and no harm done (if you don't count the screwdriver that was inserted about one cm into my leg), the lenses were changed and the chewed mask will work fine in the pool and as a standby. Saved two bills. I'm so happy I could spit.
Aloha
Bill
P.S. It turns out that the lenses are reversed from what is normal and I didn't 'see' it for two years. Isn't monovision great?

Nice one Bill, always happy to hear of gear being saved. Not sure if my wife will be too happy if I come home with another "spare" mask..."but babe, it was only £20!!!" doesn't quite cut it anymore :)

Must be great to be back in the water too after such a long dry stint, glad to hear it.

Cheers,
Ben
