I'm just making up a new floatline for the new season; i have some tube, 3mm i.d. and some 3mm line threaded through it. what do you guys use to seal the ends? I know i could just bodge the end with silicone sealant, but that might leak a bit?
I like the look of the end seals from here: Craig Float Lines
but would rather use something more local/fishing shop stuff perhaps.
What do other people do?

p.s. i've done a search, and there's some good float lines out there, but i've not seen the info for sealing the ends the cheap/easy way.

first of all i think 3mm is to thin to trap enough air to float very well
the first ones i made were 6mm and now i have moved up to 8mm id these hold fish up better and float more vertical in current
now to your question i use 200kg mono looped at the end with double crimps with a space between them using a constictor knot tied on the outer hose this locks the two togerther
this is all set into silicon sealant about a 100mm plug
i'll try and sort out a pic

Hi Shrek, thanks for your help. In fact i wont be holding up fish with the line - its just a tether to my paddle board / yak. I just need it to float and not tangle (like my existing floating line).
I found the neptonics ends Floatline Plugs and as you say, they are much larger diameter (6mm) for a 5 or 6mm i.d. sheath.
I guess i'll try and find someone to make me a couple in 3mm... or use the silicone selant method.

I used 4mm flex irrigation tube and 2mm mono, tied a few contriction knots at each end and didn't use silicon, seems to work but would float better with 6mm tube.

Excuse my ignorance but why are you using the tube. I just use a clip on one end onto my gun and the other onto the float. I want to do a better job on it hence why I'm looking at this page. Thanks

Because it reduces tangles, lots of different methods & ways of using & attaching a float line!
I have never liked the gun to float method myself.

I use B&Q washing line, I attach the end to a 1lb lead weight that also has a clip attachment that can be clipped to my belt.
Generally I hold the weigh in my hand if I am hunting & clip it to my belt if I am swimming.
I use the weight to mark flatfish or lobster holes if I cant catch them on one breath.
It is amazing how often you see a plaice just as you run short of breath, I also anchor my float if I am hunting weed beds as the line will catch & tangle - whatever it is made from!

why did'nt I think of holding the line/weight, I've always tied it to my belt but it does my head in as it catches on my fins. nice.

i have a small weight i clip onto my gun to mark spots witch obviously is connected to float line and float.
i never have anything tied to me!
there are alsorts of systems for fishing different parts of the world i'm sure the local guys in each area have the best local solution

I've tried quite a few options now; the washing line is my choice for when i use a bodyboard float, but is tangly when i use the kayak when it get knotted as i get in and out. I tried floating rope Shop for Floating Rope 8mm by the metre ProAdventure Ltd which works ok, but again is tangly around the yak or SUP, better than the washing line for that tho.
Now i've got the 2mm line with 5mm tube which does float and is much less tangly than the others I know that Podge and others have been using this method for ages, so its about time i gave it a try.
With the kayak or SUP i alwas attach the float line to my belt and keep the gun free.

Thats a good idea holding the weight. I usually use the gun as my marker for lobster but its no good if you stumble across a fish. I'm going to go with the line and tube method, it sounds the least tangly.
Here's the video I saw on you tube.

How do you tie off the end of the washing line?
