float tube diameter?

what size tubing should i use to make a new float line? I think 1/2" shoul be fine or should i use something else? is there a better way to plug it other than filling the end with 5200?
 
hey dude, i just started making myself a floatline. I'm in the process of trying to get the cord through the tubing, i am using 1/4 I.D. pvc tubing with 1/8 650 parachute cord.
