I know there are a LOT of spearos in Florida. My wife and I are driving a long-lap around the Florida coasts in April... from Jacksonville down the East coast to the Keys, then up across the Everglades and follow the Gulf Coast to Alabama. We are travelling in a Rav4 with 2 dogs, mostly tent camping (cheap!), so very little room for toys... I've already decided I will be shore diving and renting the occasional kayak.

I'm hoping for some General Florida Wisdom and Hot Tips from Florida folks... your MUST DO list, things to be aware of, things to avoid... and of course any really great shore dives you are willing to share with a passer-by. My weapon for this trip is a Riffe 110 Euro... great little reef gun.

Best shore dive I know of is at the south end of Boca Grande Is. Old phosphate dock, lots of cover, depth12-40 ft, spearfishing allowed. Dive it at high slack tide when it hasn't been raining much.
