Flow (endless) pools for training?

Hello,

Has anyone attempted to make use of a swimming machine, endless pool, flow pool, or what ever your term is for those pools that provide a constant flow of water to swim against?

There's one fairly local to me which I'm contemplating trying with a monofin for a number of reasons:

1. You're not crossing paths with other swimmers in the same lane so less chance of catching someones arm or leg with your fin.
2. Endless lengths gives an opportunity to really concentrate on stroke.
3. Building-up stamina.

On the flip-side I guess there are downside to using one:

1. No turns, so you don't get to practice turns.
2. Insufficient flow to be able to use a monofin or bi-fins at a high pace.

This video shows a swimmer successfully using the FINIS Monofin in an Endless Pool®. You should expect different results in a jetted pool, as the current will be weaker and more turbulent. Still no flip-turns, you're right, but a great venue for stroke training.
