Today I'm going to get a flu vaccine...Will it have some effect on my freediving?

I had one a few weeks ago and no problems other than a bit of a dead arm.
Make sure you get the lollypop after…:)

I had it a few weeks ago, no problems except that my arm was hurting the next day and I had to climb some rocks on the beach, trying to go rockpooling at high tide. :blackeye rofl

I learnt a few valuable lessons:

Never jump off a rock if you can't climb back up it, especially with a bad arm. Fortunately I did manage to find another route, so I wasn't rescued by the Coastguard.

Never jump from one rock to another while carrying an open bag contaning my camera, mobile, cards and coursework. I narrowly missed emptying it in the sea.

I think Neptune was on my side! rofl

About the flu jab, I have it every year and it has improved my life a lot. Before that I used to get colds and flu all the time during the autumn and winter, and it was making me very ill.

Personally, I prefer avoiding unnecessary medications. I believe that a healthy life-style does usually better service to your body than feeding it permanently with shots and other medications, which are only destabilizing the natural balance. If you make your search on flue shots, you can find that there may be many dangerous side-effects that are not yet very well studied. Among others, at repetitive use, they are suspected to trigger Alzheimer disease.
Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, one of the world's leading immunogeneticists, states the chances of getting Alzheimer's disease is 10 times higher if an individual has five consecutive shots than if they have one, two or no shots. This is likely due to the thimerosol (a mercury-derived preservative) and aluminum content of the vaccine
Mercury is present in other vaccines too, including those used on infants, and although the pharmaceutic industry and the officials deny it, studies and some experts suggest that it is responsible for the increase of autism and other neurological disorders at children, that one can observe in countries applying those vaccines.

So yes, the vaccines can protect you from some diseases, but you should not ignore the other side of their possible effects on your health too and better get more information before starting to use them regularly.

I try to avoid unnecessary medications as far as possible, but the flu vaccine has improved my quality of life a lot. Without it I get very ill and have to take a lot more medications such as antibiotics to clear up ear, sinus and chest infections.

Unfortunately I haven't found any natural way to avoid colds and flu. I get one after another throughout the autumn and winter, and this has gone on for all of my life. I don't think I have generally low immunity, as I don't get any other infections, and apart from that my health is reasonably good.

I can understand why it might be better to avoid unnecessary medications, but the flu vaccine, among other things, has improved my health a lot over the last few years. Apart from the physical problems caused by repeated colds and flu, I was tired of being ill.

Yes, I understand that, I just wanted to make clear that taking any vaccination is always a trade off, and if you use them, you should be aware that besides the positive effects, there are also negative ones. If you decide that the positive effects have higher priority for you than the risk of later complications, it is fine. The problem is that a lot of people take the vaccines without even knowing about the problems involved.

For me, since I started diving again, I haven't had the nasty colds that would always go straight for my lungs. Those colds would leave me coughing for at least a month or two. Currently, I have gone a year without getting sick.
