My buddy recently got a jbl 38 magnum aluminim gun and the thing is really heavy and unbalanced. It takes way to much strain to swim the gun horizontal becuase it is so muzzle heavy. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to fill one with foam to make it float better and did it work. Any suggestions on how to achieve this.

I've done it. It helps, but the gun will still be a lump of nose-heavy junk IMO.
If you do this, take the gun apart, fill the barrel, let it sit for a few days to expand, cut off the excess, then put the trigger handle and nose back on after. If you don't, the foam may keep expanding into the trigger mechanism.
Cheers,
Erik

Yeah, kind of what I figured but since my buddy lets me borrow it as a backup gun it would be nice if it floated better. I was also thinking of maybe attaching a loop of tuna cord off the back of the gun big enough to get your forearm through to help keep some of the weight balanced. Litlle nervous about even loosely attaching myself to a gun but I'll make sure it's loose and carry my knife. For those of you who haven't shot one this may sound silly but they are really a nose heavy piece of junk. And to make it worse to hold the gun really steady you must have your finger on the trigger which makes me nervous. Wish my omer t20 was working.

Yeah it's hard to go back to the Harley after you've driven a Japanese or Italian sportbike hahaha!
The last time I used my JBL I was able to take 4lbs off my belt....
