I am getting pretty consistent foot cramps everytime i dive lately and was wondering if its the coldwater or if my footpockets are too big. i am wearing a 3mm bootie with my fins because the water is about 55 deg. right now, but the footpocket fits good length wise but theres a little room on the sides. should they fit tight all the way around? they cant be way too big because i can kick and swim all i want with no fin keepers and the footpocket doesnt slide on my foot nor ever come off. I drink plenty of water and dont get cramps anywhere else? any ideas?

What fins and blades? Are you doing any stretching exercises for for you legs?

They are omer millenium fins with the standard plastic blade. they are pretty stiff. As far as pre-dive stretches i dont do much, any suggested stretches? Its weird to me that i dont get cramps anywhere else just my foot and its usually just the right foot.

Foot Stretches

I badly bruised the ball of my foot and later did stretches like these.
I wouldn't think the omers are that hard on you.
Cheers, Don

i will give these a whirl thanks DP for the help i think this outta do it.

Do the foot pockets put a lot of pressure on the top of your foot? I have heard that you can modify foot pockets with boiling water and a block, kinda stretch out the parts that seem too tight. I haven't needed to try it but might be another option

And by the way, the muscles cramps are one of the indicators for critical lack of magnesium in the organism. In a grave condition could even affect the heart's muscle... !
Other workaday reason for such a cramps of the calves could be some deep (hidden) varicose veins.

I get cramps when the foot pockets are too tight, not too loose. I wear a 5mm boot on my left foot and a 3mm on my right as that seems to be the only way I can avoid it. Had major problems with Cressi pockets on my first fins and have been through a few different types settling on the Omer being the best, but that's just for my feet.

Try different sock/pockets, try to find ones that work for you.

This can also be caused by dehydration make sure you are drinking enough water i get the exact same thing in my hands and feet when im dehydrated
