footpockets fitting issues

I bought pair of fins but the foot pockets are loose,I tried adding shoe inserts which feel perfect on land but it does not help in water,one size down foot pockets are too tight

any suggestions?

Socks should do the trick, there are also videos about shaping footpockets using heat but not sure how well it works for decreasing size.

I forgot to mention,I usually use 3 mm socks

Then use 5 mm socks.
