Footpockets similar to Esclapez

I currently am diving with a pair of Esclapez black fins and am thinking of adding a pair of fiberglass or carbon fins for more performance oriented freediving. While there there are lots of discussions about blades I've seen little about the differences in footpocket shape and size. The Escclapez fit pretty well and the shape of the pocket is close to the shape of my feet. I did see the recent thread about Cressi footpockets, but Cressi is the one type that don't fit my feet well at all. They are too narrow and straight.

Does anyone have a suggestion for footpockets with a similar fit to the Esclapez? I'm pretty open to any brand; Omer, Sporasub, even Mustangs. But because there are no local stores I can't try any on. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

The Esclapez name is now Imersion. If you are happy with your Imersion footpockets, just buy a pair of JBL fins. JBL has the exclusive right to the Imersion Black and Imersion Green fins here in the USA and has private labeled them with the JBL logo.

Since you dive in cold water and wear a thick 3mm or 5mm sock, the Cressi footpocket most likely would not fit properly. It is a very ergonomic and comfortable footpocket, but caters mainly to those of us who dive in warm water without socks. Nothing compares to the comfort of the Cressi footpocket on a bare foot!

PM me if you are interested in a pair of Imersion E:Glass (fibergass blade) or Imersion E:Carbon (carbon blade) fins. These are fins with the same footpocket you are use to. I can also help educate you about the various pockets available on the market.

As much as you may hope me to be Jim, alas, I am not him. I am from Seattle and do freedive (even here in the cold water, but also in Hawaii and Florida), but am Jon B. Unfortunately, I don't know where Jim is.
 

The Esclapez/Imersion footpocket is comfortable but the power transmission is impaired due to the softness of the footpocket. The only comparably 'weak' footpocket is the Picasso.

Mind you the temporary cooperation between the renown French carbon and fibre blade manufacturer Breier and Imersion has been terminated because Breier objected to selling his 1st class blades with these footpockets.

As to the fit, it would appear that the Sporas are closer to Imersion than Omer.

I beg to differ there, the picasso black team footpocket is one of the hardest wearing footpockets out there, Ive had my fins for almost 3 years now and still struggle to twist the heel open when putting them on. Ive been ofered more money for the footpockets than what the fins were by a mate who deals in spearfishing equipment and his quote was that those pockets are some of the best on the market...

Back to the question compared to esclapez the picasso black team footpocket is very similar, Ive tried both and the picasso felt best, they mite be a tad wider but still very similar. Various Breier fins can be bought at SCUBALAND Magasin d'équipement et matériel de plongée sous-marine vente en ligne sécurisée

However, Eric Breier is actually one of the few manufacturers that you can contact directly and discuss your requirements over the phone [+33 (0)2 97 44 48 48]. Advice as to choosing from the various models guaranteed! They will be custom-made for you, if need be.

Not much power transfer at the heel, innit? rofl the instep matters and that is the part were most footpockets other than the Picasso are reinforced.

The footpockets on my 44-46 Imersion greens are much softer at the heel than my Picasso footpockets, but they are definitely larger than even my 46-48 Picassos. I plan to wear the Imersions up here because I can use 5 mm booties without squeezing the blood out of my feet. Comfort has to reign supreme.

I too disagree, I have a pair of picasso's and the sole of the foot pocket is as stiff as the blade where it enters the foot pocket. I can kick as hard as I like and not once have I felt the foot pocket push into my foot.

Are you sure about that? Imersion is still selling Imersion - Breir fins...
