I just heard of Elian Lopez’s story this morning and wanted to pass a word along. He escaped from Cuba on a windsurfer two days ago and was picked up 15 miles south of Islamorada today. He was a Free diver back home in Cuba however.

If you can help please do. From Facebook, Jihemy CW:
“Rick Iossi He's a Free Diving Instructor in Varadero, Cuba , launched himself on a surfboard into the sea two days ago, looking for Freedom. He suffers from cancer and he urgently requires medication, being one of the reasons why he risked his life desperately. He has a colostomy too such a warrior. We're trying to get legal advice for Elian Lopez Cabrera, in his delicated situation, being deported will be a dangerous decision for him. He risked all, he took his surfboard as his only hope. He deserves a chance ”

More of the story, somewhat ineptly translated by machine. Apparently he has a medical condition which drove him to the US for treatment.
