Hi all,

I'm heading down to Dahab, Egypt and want to extend my training with the AiDA*** course. Has anyone had an experience with the schools down there. From what I can see the options are

Desert Divers
Blue Immersion
Freedive Dahab

Anyone had any experience with any of these or can recommend another?

Im a little Bais as I am running an AIDA freediving school here myself, we are offering AIDA programs from AIDA 1star to 4 star. Blue Immersion has has moved to Thailand but Akim is in town for a month or so. As for the other schools, FDD (freedive Dahab) is a good school and that is actually where a lot of instructors including myself trained and gained a lot of experience. I worked with them for a number of years and did my AIDA instructor program with them before starting my own school. If I was to choose between FDD and desert divers there is no choice. FDD has been around a lot longer and has a lot more experience teaching. The owners are freediving instructor trainers and know what they are doing. Desert divers is a little bit of a do everything center. They have limited experience in teaching freediving and the fact that they try to do everything means that the quality suffers. For the most part their instructors turnover on a regular basis which limits the potential for consistent quality. That being said they have had one experienced instructor working with them. His name is Brain and if he is still working with them then you may stand a chance at receiving some good training. Other than that there are several other free lance Freediving instructors that are here in Dahab which provide good quality training and are certified by AIDA. If you have any other questions you can contact myself at deanspahic@yahoo.com, or visit my web site, World of Freediving - International AIDA Freediving School. I hope this helps. Im sure others may disagree with my assessment, but Ive been in this town for near 3 years so I know my way around. Good Luck. All the best,

FDD is allright. They know what they're doing. And they are professionals in this branch. No shortcuts, no hurry, patient approach, care for details. I liked it.

Hi Flip Flip,

I've just returned from Dahab myself where I did my 3* and my girlfriend her 2* with FDD, we dived with them for 3 days and were lucky enough to have a day with Linda, Lotta and Jacques. I can't find fault with any of them, they were all professional, informative, friendly, great teachers and most importantly made the diving fun, relaxed and enjoyable. I have no experience of any other freedive schools there, so I can't make a comparison, but I can't recommend these guys enough.
