Hi guys,

My wife and I will be moving to London for a year or 2 and should be settled in the Putney area by November (going from Sydney winter to London winter...yes i know, don't start :duh ). I'm not too familiar with the geography of London yet, where would be the closest freedive group to join? From looking at the BFA website and the map, I am guessing that Crystal Palace might be closer.

I usually train in monofin dynamic and no-fins, and occasionally static, though I may not have a wetsuit for a while.

Cheers,
Ben

Hey !
If you're going to be based in Putney, you might want to consider this club in Richmond. It will be about a 10 minute train journey and a short walk...
I can't tell you a whole lot more, as I was looking them up myself tonight and thinking about heading down...
Hope the following helps out.

Richmond
London
There is a regular training session at Richmond "Pools on the Park" (just off A316 and just 10 mins walk from Richmond station) every Thursday from 21:00 - 22:00. Parking free. Divers meet in the Cafeteria on the Ground Floor from 20:00. It is a 33m pool and the pool is shared with a scuba club. Cost 3, Static and Dynamic Apnea training plus advice. New freedivers (who are not BFA members initially) are very welcome to come down to Richmond on the 1st Thursday of the month only. This introductory session costs 6. After the 2nd visit, a new freediver will be expected to become a BFA member. Contact Steve Gardner (freediveuk@aol.com) for details.

Fantastic, thanks a lot Alex. That seems a lot closer than I was expecting! Might see you there in a couple of months.

Cheers,
Ben

lots of people come from London so lifts are usually not too difficult to arrange

good luck with the move

Thanks Sam, i'd love that and was wondering if many travelled there from London.

I've been psyching myself up for a quarry dive for months now. I understand that some people dive there most of the year round but I imagine it would be getting a wee bit chilly from here onwards. How often do most people dive there?

Cheers,
Ben

we dive at least once a month, most of the year around. In the winter we don't always have scuba cover so we are limited to 25m but from April - Oct at least once a month, often more.
