I have a group of freedivers going to Troy springs and Blue Hole on Sunday Nov. 5th. Anyone interested in diving is welcome to join us. I'm planning on getting there at 10:00 A.M. I will have about 6 freedivers with me that I know of so far with another five possibles. I have also had some interest from a few divers in Gainsville. I think that it will be a pretty good turn out.

I will have one maybe two dive lines set up at Troy. I'm bringing two underwater cameras and I'm trying to organize an underwater video camera as well. I will be willing to send pictures to anyone that goes.

I will also be bringing food and drinks so we can have lunch at troy before we go to Blue hole. I'll have things like hambergers, hotdogs, chips, water, gaterrade and soda. You are welcome to bring your own, or bring something to pitch in. NO alcahole though, these are state parks.

If anyone is interested in scuba diving Troy (and you are certified) my brother and his girlfriend will be on scuba. You must be certified and have your own gear. I have a few items that I may be able to loan out. But most of it is all ready being used that weekend. I do however have plenty of soft lead.

For freedivers, I do have some gear that I can loan out, as well as some that you may try if you wish. Such items you may try are long blade fins and a D3 computer (depth and timer).

I want everyone that goes to have fun and enjoy themselves. But above all else, saftey is first. Do not push you limits. I do have a few divers along with my self that will be more than willing to spot you. So don't hesitate to ask. We want to have fun, but we want to be safe.

Spring info:

Troy Spring is mostley an open water dive. It does have some overhead enviroment, but most of it is wide open. Depth ranges from 30ft to 70ft. These depths are based on my last visit. I think that this site is good for
beginers as well as the experienced. If you are just getting into Freediving or are just interested, come on out and check it out.

Blue Hole is located in Itchnituckny state park. It is a little more advanced but still an interesting dive. This one is NOT an open water dive. The surronding area is about 6 ft deep. There is a hole about 10ft by 15ft that drops down about 10ft before opening up to a room below. The room is about 20ft by 35ft and is fairly well lite. These sizes are only estamites. The bottom is between 30 and 40 feet in depth. I do NOT recomend beginners to dive below 20 ft on this one. For the beginners there is also a nother spring that is open and about 20 ft in depth. If you are an experienced freediver, and wish to explore, you may wish to bring a light to this one. Again, do NOT push you limits, this dive is for fun, NOT records.

If you wish to know more, or need directions, you can e-mail me at kronek@hotmail.com.

I hope to see you there,
Brian

Troy springs was great. It is always an interesteing dive. I got to try some new techniques that I just learned. They worked pretty good. We had a good turn out. We had 6 freedivers at Troy and 4 at Blue Hole.

Troy springs was really clear when I got there. You could see the entire bottom with no problem. Of course, then some scuba divers came in a little latter and stired things up. It makes it a harder to see the bottom from the surface, but once you dive 20 feet, it clears up nicely. The water was down from last time I was there. The deepest that I found was 65 feet. Another freediver found a spot that was 67 feet. 65 feet may not seem like much compaird to the 80 foot dives I have benn doing, but factor in that it is an open water dive, and it can be a workout if you not use to it. I'm not.

Blue hole was our next stop. The air started getting a little cooler, but the water is always the same. Blue hole is a realy cool dive. You swim down through a ten foot hole to a room below. Very cool. Every time I dive it, I find something new. Like, I had no idea that there was another room. So I started to check it out. Of course, I forgot to change the batteries in my light before the trip, and that room was dark. Needless to say, I did not go very far into it. About ten feet. I will defenatly have to go back with fresh batteries.

I will be back in the area around Thanksgiving to do some diving. So if anyone would like to dive these sites or others in the area, let me know and I'll meet you at one.

Well I'll be at Blue Spring this weekend, so check out my thread " last chance to dive Blue Springs" for more info. I hope to see you there.

Brian
