motek777, if you have a car and willing to travel there is a few guys and girls in Liverpool, only a small journey up the M6 for you.

Look for Apneaboy (well ard) here on D.B.....

If it's depth your looking for then SaltFree is the place (Chepstow in Wales) again not a million miles away for you down the M5.

There is session in Sheffield, Fridays 8-9:30, Ponds Forge.
We also come to Dosthill quary occassionaly.
It is near Tamworth.

Hi mate, it sounds like your dying to tell us your 'irresponsible' story to get it off your chest.

Have you been medically cleared with a certificate from a Doctor since you had your injuries specifically fro freediving?

Sorry mate forgot about the Sheffield lot, i've heard there really good! Get in contact with them i'm sure they can accomodate you.

I think Steve is right...we need to build up a mutual trust as well.
Should you do anything irresponsible at pool session, someone might get hurt or worse and we shall all be banned permanently from using those venues. So, perhaps it would be good if you come clean about how and why the accident happend.
Pardon me for being direct, no offence meant, but the question is in essence - can we trust you'll behave responsibly?

I hope you have fully recovered.

I am not "dying to tell" anything although my case could be a good lesson for irresponsible novices. My very first post on DB according to my accident went with a title "lung squeeze-what now???" (April 27th, 2005) You can look it up if you want. All symptoms but one caused by the squeeze were vanished within a fortnight. I had this stinging pain remaining in the left side of my chest, lung area for years! I thought air or some blood got trapped and thats what triggers the slight but circular pain that was part of my life for a long time. Well, it was intercostal neuralgia. A nerve got trapped within the intercostal muscles during the dive. The 4th doctor seeing me had this idea and gave me two shots of lidocaine and some anti-inflammatory drug right into the nerve group. Actually he first prescribed me some pills (amitriptilyne) for intersostal neuralgia but eventually the shots were the ones helping.
I gradually started to feel better and in just a week or two the pain was gone for good. So if anyone has a continous but slight pain after a bad dive and this pain is stronger during running, exercising, might worth thinking of a trapped nerve.

Those days I was learning from Bevan Dewar, an amazing south-african freediver, so I basically got my "training" from an expert.

Thanks for the quick responses!

You came on saying you had made irresponsible decisions and made reference to a medical injury you had from freediving.

Now with racist comments you are trying to somehow suggest its not your fault people are asking genuine questions.

Glad you have decided to leave the thread, you seem slightly unhinged.

I have never implied anyone's dishonesty. Actually, it was very honest to admit:

i was laid off from freediving due to a messy lung squeeze + intercostal neuralgia that occured 4 years ago in Dahab during an irresponsible dive.

I was hoping we could get the conversation going and perhaps get you to tell us more details. This is what people normally do. You might be the most safety conscious person in the world - but if you do not tell us, we cannot know.

Your reaction was rather impulsive and childish. Generalisation comment is totaly inappropriate and unnecessary...shame mate...but we are getting to know each other one way or another.

I hope you think it through.
