Freedivers in Perth!

Hello down there!

I'm on my way to Perth in March. Is it still diving season then or will I be poisoned the same moment I hit the water by a smal jellyfish and then eaten by a big shark? :blackeye

Do you know anny dive center that have freediving tours?

Is ther some one who arrange freediving classes?

Well thats the big questions more will come thank you in advance!

I haven't done anny underwater hunting becorse it's forbidden in sweden but it should be intersting to try. I do hawe a pole spear but never used it.

My best dive so far is 32m (CNW) but the circumstances isn't the best here the sea looked like this that day:

this is not particularly bad for the baltic sea. If I dont remember all wrong the water temp was 14 C (about 57 F).

I have been diving for about 6 months so im not that good yet......although i did do a 50m lap in the pool yesterday...my new PB

there are quite a number of spearfisherman in WA but only very few dedicated freedivers, i lived there for almost 18 years before moving to queensland.

as for the stingers you dont have to worry they arent really an issue that far south, the sharks are a different story! hahaha, no in all honesty they are there but are very rarely seen and there have only been VERY few attacks in the last 30 years, so nothing to stress about.

there are no stores that really specialize in freediving however there are a couple who are freediver friendly.

Powerdive on Sterling hwy (aaron)
and Dolphin Scuba in Fremantle (main port city of Perth) also a really good place for a bite to eat and a beer or 2.

Aaron at powerdive is affiliated with the local spearfishing club so can probably hook you up with some dive partners while the guys at Dolphin last time i spoke to them were thinking about taking freedivers out on their scuba boat so i think they will be a good chance as well.(really nice people too)

as for depth your 32m ability will be ample as most reefs/islands etc are in 10-25m with them option of deeper water if you go out far enough (depends on what you want to achieve while you are there)

Pretty sure its Bluewater freedivers but i could be wrong been a while since i spoke to him (outside of work), o may no longer be part of the club but i know he has still been organising comps and stuff so he must still have some contacts.
