freedivers in the victoria BC area?

my name is michael and i just got back from taking the performance freediving intermediate course and am needing a freediving buddy to dive and train with. if you know of anyone let me know.
 
There were one or two guys from victoria on here im in vancouver i come to the island lots in the summer to dive the west coast.and i have some really nice spots up the sunshine coast if your interested and i will be diving every weekend soon but im just recovering from a broken leg/surgery.Do you have all your own gear 5mm suit,freediving fins as i have a few sets of gear if you are missing anything.
 
ya i have full gear and even some spearing gear but mostly i'm wanting someone who know what they are doing to have fun with and push limits. with my job im often limited to day trips around the island so if you ever come over on a weekend drop me a line with some notice!
 
i usually dive around 80- 100 feet for fun or spearing, begining to pushing limits is usually starts at 130 ft and deeper i have been freediving 15 years competing for 4, so as long as are limits are the same we could definetly meet up for a dive.i have several dive rigs as me and my dive buddys compete in c.a.f.a competitions and use them to train, so yeah if im coming down it will be a group of us and your welcome to join we are all well trained.

that would be perfect! i have done 67 feet but know i could do at least 80 with a good warm up. its the getting out there and experience with others that i need and a set up like that would be ideal. just let me know when you are coming down
 
i have moved to canada and lve in whistler i spearfish a lot at home but was unsure wether or not i can spear in the vancouver squamish if you have any info please let me know
 
yeah you can spearfish there just check for R.C.As rock fish conservation areas and check your area i think you under area 16 for what you may shoot if you want to come spearing im only a short drive away in vancouver and usually i spear near sechelt as there is more ling cod and rock fish.the website is under fisheries and oceans canada cheers.If you need any help just send me a PM and ill help you out with any info you may need for spearing in the area it can get a little confusing.

cool thanks for the info will try and catch up for a dive soon i have to wait until i can get my gear sent from aus. What size fish do you normally get as i have never speared for rockfish or cod?
 
rockfish vary depending on species from 1 pound to 25 pounds ling cod vary from 6 pounds to 75+ pounds but those suckers are deep.
 
probably gonna need to upgrade your suit, im from nz when i first moved here had to buy a new one.I have a spare 5mm suit,beuchat fins and weight belt, suits a large if you fit it you can use it if you wanna come for a dive and i have an extra gun.

the best thing about this is your not going to check this till after we go spearing tomorrow. so you going to be nice all dayrofl
 
in van for the week keen to check out the spearing is the water going to be clear enough and where should i go?
 
depends were you go usually good beyond the 40-50 mark we will more than likely be out diving what days are you going?Lol darcy i never read your comment till now lol guess the ladies must love the ol spagetti strap cause i still get 5 times the action you do. best ive seen you get is a hug....from bronson
