Hi!

I'm going for a holiday at Azores and I'd ask if there if somebody who would know about free diving at Azores?
- Are there any places accessible from the shore?
- Any boats or related to recommend?
- Are there overall any places for a quite beginner?
- Something else that I should concider?

I'm been doing some free diving for a couple of times but I can't say that I'd be more than a beginner =)

Best regards, thanks,
Touko

HI, i'm form and in Azores :)

First, to wich island are you comimg (i supose San Miguel)?
Are there any places accessible from the shore? Yes, lots of them but i need to know the island :). I some places you can easily get -20m close (less then 30m) to shore.

For all the other questions, i'll wait for the island info. If you prefer, send a mail to marginatux at gmail dot com

take care

Hi,

oh yeah, I forgot the island :) Yep, San Miguel is the place.

Also I wonder about the water temperature in the end of March; is it warm enough to dive with a wet suit or is it too cold yet?

Thanks, best regards,
Touko

the water temp now is around 15ºC :) Since your from finland you probably can dive without suit :) By the end of March it will be probably around 17ºC.
In San Miguel there are a lot of (natural) areas that are prepared for swiming or freediving and if your staying near the sea you will spot them... you can rent a boat to check some pinacles but it depends what is a "bigenner" for you.
For a bigenner, shore diving will bring lots of places to dive (it gettes deep faster then in mainland) and lot of sea life... i hope you enjoy it.
If you need anything else, just ask
