Hello all,

I live in British Columbia and have recently gotten into freediving. The ocean is a slightly far drive for me, but there are lakes literally everywhere around here, and I thought they'd be a good place to start.

I know lakes aren't generally as interesting as the ocean, but I've had a bit of fun in them anyways. I was just wondering if anyone here has had experience freediving in lakes. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for? Any particularly cool lakes to check out? Is spearfishing in lakes any good, or is that more of an ocean thing?

Any information would be great, thanks!

Welcome to DB, SirJeff.

There are a bunch of serious spearos not too far from you and they do a lot of lake spearing. Read through the list of threads in this section and many lakes and divers will come up. Some of the best are in the Queen Charlottes now or soon, on a trip I'd sure like to be on. PM Erik if he doesn't show up soon.
