Maybe something usefull... I've made an iCal public calendar with all AIDA freediving related events like competitions and record attempts. So instead of checking the AIDA website several times a month to find any updates, you just can use your favorite calendar software like google calendar, apple's iCal or I don't no what else there is, as long as it support iCal open source standard.

Look at www.shark-freediving.com at the freediving calendar post for the precise ical and xml feed of the calendar. You just add it once and we make sure it stays up to date.

I updated the calendar with some extra info per event. Maybe it's a good idea to put in this calendar also all freediving related events and not only AIDA events, so tv appearances, documentary's, etc.

Soon there will also be a manual about how to use this calendar in your outlook, google calendar, etc.

Jorg,

Definately very interesting. I think a manual is in order as I had a bit of trouble figuring out how to use it and i'm a very technical person :D

Wow, if even Stephen has difficulty with it... Then there should definitly be a manual! which ICAL software are you using?

Hehehe

I was using the new Google Calendar.

On a seperate note - I can't seem to find an iCal plugin for Outlook - do you know if there are any.

Not sure if there is a plugin, however an immediate solution would be to import iCal into calendar.google.com and then export to outlook.

Outlook 2007, now only available in beta, can work perfectly with ical.

I downloaded your file into iCal. It worked fine and it really gives great information. Thank you for taking the time to put this together and to give it to everyone. Thanks.

Peace,
Glen

Jorg,

Just some feedback.... I just downloaded the update that you mentioned. It doubled all of the previous entries in iCal instead of merging them. Thanks again.

Peace,
Glen

No problem! Hope you enjoy it. What do you think? Should I add more events? Like tv appearences, shows, etc? Birthdays of worldrecord holders, or other famous freedivers...

Sure but I would opt out birthdays, and instead maybe historical events.

The beaty of ICAL is that it updates itself. So maybe you have added it again, so that you know have 2 of the same calendars running. You shouldn't have to update it manually.

So people, what kind of events do you want to see in the calendar? Let me know and I will publish them.

The calendar is updated again with all the latest AIDA competition and events. In the next week I'm going to update the calendar with all kinds of freediving events and everything else that's interesting and related to freediving.
I'm also busy with making a small manual and how you can incorporate the calendar in outlook and any other personal calendar software.

So... another update to the freediving calendar, but this time it got way better! now you can see the calendar without signing up. Just go to www.shark-freediving.com and read the latest post about it, or go directly to www.shark-freediving.com/calendar/ where you can find the html version of the calendar and all info related to it. Any feedback is appreciated so that I know who I'm doing this for.

This is a good and useful tool. Thanx. Bookmarked, put on our forum the link. :)
