I was wonderig if anyone knows of any charters in Florida, that catter to freedivers? Usualy I rent a kayak, or take a snorkel tour, but lets face it those tours really stink. I herd that some scuba charters will let a freediver tag along, but never really looked into it.

Freediving in Destin?

Hi Dan,

What part of Florida will you be visiting? I have found one dive shop in Destin that allows freedivers and dove with them a few times last year. If this is the area you'll be in I can get you contact information. Just let me know.

Charlie

Florida charters

Hi Charlie:

Home base is St. Petersburg, and then we go from there. Usually to the Keys or to the the Lauderdale area. This year I think we might discover the Keys a littel more. I also want to check out the cryistal river.

Dan.

I had a buddy who dove out of Narcosis, in Tarpon Springs. Really enjoyed the trips and they had no problem letting him freedive the wrecks.

Sorry not sure about the keys, but at least thats something close to home!

Dan,
If you are heading to the Keys check out The Lost Reef Dive shop in Key West. My good friend and avid freediver, Jason, works as a dive master for them. I am fairly certain that they allow freediving from their boats. There are several good wrecks to dive on just a few miles offshore. One of which sits in about 60 feet and another in about 90 feet of water. Both are good fun when the conditions are not to windy. Good luck. Dan
