There is no need anymore to travel all the way to Egypt, sweden or the french riviera to compete in freediving !!

Now it is time for south-East Asia ,a long time popular scuba-diving destination, to become a classic freediving destination.

The pristine coral reef of Ko Ha (off the coast of Koh Lanta) will host a 3 days competition in february 2009.
Blue Planet Divers, based on Koh Lanta, are organising an aida sanctionned competition in february
(from the 10th to the 12th)
This event will last 3 days ,it is including one day of preparation in rawi warin resort swimming pool.
All freedivers willing to participate are welcome and should contact Blue planet divers as soon as possible for booking.

The Andaman sea waters ,although teeming with marine life ,warm (29 celcius),and with good to very good
visibility,are not very deep..
..So no world records expected here..the maximum depth will be -55m ,thats how deep it gets at high tide in koh Ha.
That's however more than enough to organise an interesting competition ,
and we are expecting to have locals participating ,and to have some new national records there.
Please see below the dates of events 2009: Judges will be Jean Francois Gautier and Patrick Bouillon
Guillaume Nery will also be present.

10thFebruary: 1 Day preparation (practise in swimming pool)
11 February: Open ceremony at Rawi Warin resort
1 Day Swimming pool with Static and Dynamic competition (with and without fins)
12 February: 1 Day Open sea to Koh Haa - Constant weight with Fins,
Constant weight with no Fins,Free Immersion
Closing ceremony Rawi Warin resort and spa with winning prizes

Entry fee is 70 euro/person and include Hotel transfer, Breakfast, Lunch and beverages on the boat, Blue Planet apnea tee-
shirt, 50% off any rawi warin rooms.

Open Sea prizes:

So just giving a little updates here,
The competition is definetly on tracks ,backed by the sponsors.
Guillaume Nery will be present as "special guest" at this competition.

more good news for competitors:
due to recent changes in currency exchange rates, the entry fee for the competition is now only 70 euros for the 3 days.(as of 80 euros previously)

Also check the competition blog where the results will be published:
