I remember when they took the measurements of the biggest Iqal (traditional head wear) that we made and was on Guinness Book. The actual one is 1.5 meter and they said it was 15 meter !

This is not the first time this has happened. Many years ago I also recall someone mistaking a 'free diving course' for a free scuba course.
My response to him would be:
- Yes, the diving is free, because this type of diving does not require equipment
- However the course is not free

I got similar emails a few years ago right before one of my freedive-a-palooza gatherings. I had to inform them that even though I was a scuba instructor I was not planning on wearing a tank all weekend and that while there will be plenty of people to dive/snorkel with for free, I had no intention of teaching any classes for free.
I was also on the other end of the situation about 15 years ago. I was at the DEMA show trying to talk to a resort that had advertised freediving course with Pipin. When I talked to the owner he blew me off and said that they charged for all of their courses and didn't know what I was talking about. Of course, that was pretty much the same run around I got for over a year when I tried to schedule a course with Pipin. When I finally bumped into Kirk and found out that he actually held the classes he advertised I thought that I had died and gone to heaven. I singed up for the next open session I could get into. It wasn't free by a long-shot, but it was worth it.

I know a freediver who got into the sport because he saw a poster and thought it was a free diving course. He comes out to all our events and competes regularly!
I once got into a conversation with the local school principal (who is a friend so i can give him shit) and was complaining that we have a free education system in New Zealand ,so why am i paying out every week for this and that?.His reply was it's freely open to everyone and has nothing to do with money. I then had to pay the compulsery donation!!
