Does anyone have any information about freediving courses in Europe over the summer? I'm keen to do something like the PFI intermediate course I saw discussed on another thread, with pool training mixed with outdoors depth training.

I'll be in Spain and Germany between late june to late august. I could go to France, Italy or elsewhere too.

thanks!

Deeper Blue run courses here in the UK and I think there are courses run by Pelizzari in Spain and Italy. Then there are the Red Sea guys a bit further along. I'm sure people here will give more exact details.

There are some European freediving courses listed at FreediveCentral

Also, there are many apnea clubs on the Mediterranean Sea, and many of them will be able to arrange an individual course for you even if there is no one scheduled at the exact time.

If you are in Germany, you should definitely check out the apnoehappening In Hemmoor (near Cuxhaven):

http://www.apnoehappening.de/

The whole crowd is going to be there, plus yoga workshops, diving with germany AIDA national team and even apnea dives at night.

You can also do a mini course there.

thankyou for the posts. Unfortunately the Henmoor event is too soon for me, however I was reading about Henmoor and its sounds really cool... an underwater town eh? I think I'll try and have a dive their in late august when I'll be in Germany. I'll need a dive buddy though ~ hint hint anyone :) ~

thanks trux and spaniard too I have sent off some emails about the courses you mentioned. It seems though that most of the courses like the Francisco Gautier course in Nice are more for competitive freedivers and might be too advanced for me. I'm not that interested in variable weight or any kind of competitive diving, rather learning techniques to improve my spearfishing and general apnea skills. Still, I guess it all helps....:)

If anyone else has more information, please post! thanks.

Jimmy Montanti runs courses at the spectacular Egadi islands off the coast of Trapani, Sicily. He is an expert swim coach, Apnea Academy Freediving Instructor, and incredible spearfisherman. I will be heading down there in July as a guest instructor on one of his courses. If you are interested his webpage is www.apneaegadi.it (in Italian).

Another option is Sebastien Murat.
Among other places he is coming to Sweden 1-2 september

But this is a very "specialized" course.

In Sharm (Egypt) enjoying a very physicly hard course with Apnea Academy.

Roland (immerlusting) from these forums runs courses in Dahab, I was very impressed when I read some of his course material. Try PMing him.

Hi yugyug,

err...well, in Hemmoor we got not exactly an underwater town. Just remains of some buildings but it´s a great dive site nonetheless.

Just PM me when you get to Germany, if you are ready to go and we´ll work something out.

Linda,

I'm happy to help out on the courses if you need me to, depending on where you're holding it and I can manage the dates?

Well, if anyone wants to know, I have been in touch with Peirre Frolla and it looks like I can train with him in Monaco in July.

I'm going to try and find the time to attend one of Sebastien Murats clinics too; either in Sweden (the earlier one in August) or the later one in Mallorca.

thanks for everyones help.

For some reason, sebastien's website (sebastienmurat.com) is dead (hijacked now by a domain squatter), but you can still find its archived copy at http://archive.org here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20050206235232/sebastienmurat.com/FREEDIVING.htm

Also, if you enter "sebastien murat" into Google (that's always a good idea when you search something :) ), then you get plenty of links with info about Sebastien and his clinic. One of them is at http://www.fridykning.se/freediving/features/muratclinic.html

Don't domain-jackers suck ass?

Sebastien's new site is

http://www.sub7seas.com/

Note that the clinic discussed in the link Trux posted, being more advanced, is not listed on Sebastien's site.

We are running a ** Course at SaltFree on 19/20 August

Normally our courses require weekday pool sessions, but this one will all be crammed into a weekend so would be suitable also for anyone coming from outside the UK. Nearest airport would be Bristol which is well served by Easyjet.

More info on www.learntofreedive.com

Let me know by email if you are interested
